Dr. Spaceman
I just got my wisdom teeth out this weekend and I swear I am going to Dr. Spaceman. For those of you that watch 30 Rock, you will know what I am talking about. On the show there is a character named Dr. Spaceman and whenever someone says his name he corrects them and says "It's pronounced Spah-chem-an". He plays an absent-minded, dopey doctor that gives poor advice.
So I go to my post operation check up today. My doctor takes a look at my mouth and says "wow, your healing much better than I expected, your teeth were the hardest I have had to get out in a long time". This concerned me. I said "I had a really tough time at work yesterday" and he's like "the third day of recovery is the worst, I wouldn't have gone to work if I were you". This was news to me, he had instructed me to return to work!
I asked him if it was normal that my front incisor was numb, he looked concerned and asked "is it numb around the gums and tissue, or just the tooth?" "Just the tooth" I replied. "Oh, you are fine then, if it were the tissue I would be worried, some people are numb for life". At this point I do not feel confident about his abilities. He says "let me ask you something, are you ever considering having children?" "Well, yeah, eventually, why?" He says "you will want to bring them in to get their wisdom teeth at age 15 or 16". Got it, jeez, don't scare me like that!
Worst post op visit EVER.
